Systima is the U.S. leading supplier of integrated shroud systems for launch vehicles and missiles, including hypersonic platforms. Systima provides a turn key system solution including the shroud structure, retention features, separation system, fire train and/or ISD or ESAF. Systima has expertise in design, development, analysis, materials testing, and system testing to ensure shroud performance and successful deployment in any environment.
Systima is at the forefront of advanced technologies for lightweight structures (metallic or composite) used on launch vehicles, missiles systems, hypersonic systems, and military aircraft. Systima’s advanced composite materials utilize the highest strength fiber reinforcement materials and high temperature resin matrix materials to produce designs that are lightweight and can survive the most harsh dynamic environments. Systima has expertise in the design, analysis, statistical material testing, thermal protection systems, and system testing for both metallic and composite structures.
INSENSITIVE MUNITION (IM) TECHNOLOGIES
Systima is a world leader in mitigation systems to support IM compliance of missile systems in Fast Cook-Off and Slow Cook-off conditions per MIL-STD-2105. Systima’s IM systems are adaptable for tactical and strategic platforms including canistered systems. Systima’s patent-pending thermal trigger device is MIL-STD-1901 and JOTP-52 compliant and has a tunable temperature response for use on any platform.
PAYLOAD RETENTION AND DEPLOYMENT
Systima has developed a product line of high performance and proven systems for supersonic dispense, multiple munition dispense, spacecraft/tactical missile restraint and dispense, and various release and ejection systems. The system designs range from pyrotechnic (propellant-actuated devices), stored (cold)-gas systems, and electromechanical systems. Systima can provide the system, ground testing, and sled testing or flight testing in coordination with various ranges.
STAGE AND PAYLOAD SEPARATION
Systima provides booster, stage and payload separation systems ranging in size, from less than 12” to greater than 100” in diameter. Most configurations are based on Systima’s patented low shock stage separation (LS3) system technology that provides advantages over other state-of-art systems including reduced shock (induced), minimal to near zero FOD at separation, and improved safety and handling. Systima provides separation systems based on clamp-release, LS3, or frangible technologies.
SAFING DEVICES (SADs AND ISDs)
Systima provides electrical and electro-mechanical safe-and-arm devices (ESADs) and ignition safety devices (ISDs) for space and defense platforms. The ESADs and ISDs are used for flight termination, ignition systems and firing circuits. Systima’s safe-and-arm system designs are compliant to MIL-STD-1901, MIL-STD-1316, and RCC-319 as applicable. The ESADs and ISDs are proven to be highly robust to survive harsh dynamic environments with the highest reliability for missile critical systems.
PYROTECHNIC CUTTERS, TIME DELAY CUTTERS, PIN PULLERS, AND PIN PUSHERS
Systima’s integrated energetic systems consist of many types of energetic components (CAD/PAD) that can be specially designed for your application. These include pyrotechnic cutters, pin-puller devices, pin-pusher devices, as well as piston actuators and gas generators. The cutter and pin puller-pusher devices have been qualified and flight proven for various targets, loads, and forces. Systima’s pyrotechnic time delay cutters find applications in launch vehicles, spacecraft, and various deployment systems.
Systima produces roughly over 2,000 gas generators each year that are used in ejection systems, launch tubes, separation systems, inflation systems and many other applications. The hot gas generators contain a solid propellant grain that’s composition and configuration are tailored to provide a precise burn profile. Systima’s gas generator range in size and contain from 1/10 of a gram to many pounds Net Explosive Weight (NEW). The gas generators have been qualified to the most rigorous requirements and have a high demonstrated reliability and extensive flight heritage.
IN-HOUSE TESTING, QUALIFICATION, AND PRODUCTION
Systima manufactures and tests its products at our Kirkland, WA facility. This capability allows Systima to provide custom products that meets our customers’ schedule and cost targets. In-house capabilities include:
