Mechanical Engineering and
Design
|
Systima Technologies offers a wealth of
experience and capability in the engineering, design and
development of mechanical components and systems including
aircraft cargo/weapon carriage and release systems,
pyrotechnic actuators, missile shroud and stage separators,
dispensing and deployment systems, and inflation products.
Our engineering team takes pride in providing rapid
end-to-end engineering support to expedite the transition from
concept to production. Reduced development lead-time
also minimizes the associated costs and reduces
time-to-market for compressed schedules.
Computer aided design (CAD) tools for 2D
and 3D layout include Pro-Engineer, Alibre, Solid Edge,
AutoCad. The 3D models provide the ability to evaluate
component configuration and fit-check prior to the fabrication
and assembly. The 3D models also provide seamless
transition between design and analysis for structural,
thermal, and kinematics evaluations.

One of
Systima's areas of specialty is in the design and
development of pyrotechnic and explosive systems.
Systima and its engineering staff have extensive experience in
the design of energetic systems including gas generators,
inflation systems, and pyrotechnic actuators.
Gas
Generator and Inflation Systems:
- Ballute
inflation systems
- Munition
dispensing systems
- Airbag
inflation systems
- Flight
vehicle landing systems.
Pyrotechnic and Explosive
Actuators:
- Ejection

This design
experience encompases a very wide range of gas generator
types including solid propellant systems, compressed gas
systems, and hybrid (both solid propellant/liquid coolant and
solid propellant/gaseous coolant)
systems. |

End-to-End Engineering: Design to
Production
The development of a product is not
limited to the design of the product. It must also
include the development of the manufacturing process and/or
system. By placing a strong emphasis on
design-for-manufacture (DFM/DFA) and six-sigma
producibility, Systima engineers design components and systems
to not only minimize fabrication time, tooling and costs, but
also to expedite the transition from concept the production as
well. |

Analysis, Kinematics & Model
Simulation
|
Systima’s engineering
expertise includes static and dynamic analysis of thermal and
structural characteristics as well as motion and kinematics
studies. Analytical interrogation of the designs using
computer models reduces the design/development cycles time by
reducing the prototype iterations needed to bring a design to
maturity. System kinematics analysis is used to simulate
motion associated with 3D computer models, which can then be
animated to verify performance characteristics, interaction
and separation analysis, and to identify collision or
interference issues. Systima also employs custom
proprietary computer code for specialized and advanced
analysis and model simulation. Analysis and simulation
tools include:
- Structural analysis:
- Kinematics software:
- Working Model, Visual Nastran 4D,
- CAD software:
- Pro-Engineer, Solid Edge, Alibre, and
AutoCAD
- Systima proprietary computer codes for
specialized engineering tasks.
