Project Engineer
Summary:
This position will provide Engineering Support for projects requiring the application and demonstration of aerospace and defense systems. The focus of the position will be on the design, development and demonstration of advanced technologies in support of military and aerospace development programs. The position will assist in leading all phases of development including conceptual level design and analysis, full scale system development, prototype hardware design, fabrication, and system testing. Representative Duties:
- The position scope will focus on the use of mechanical systems necessary to develop and demonstrate systems for operation on ground and flight vehicles.
- Work will involve team-oriented participation in the development and conduct of mechanical systems projects. Tasks will include concept definition, mechanical system design, analysis, fabrication, and demonstration testing. A major focus is prototype fabrication and testing for technology maturation.
- The candidate will assist the project manager and current product owners to provide customer presentations and submittals and to coordinate activities with other internal organizations such as engineering, manufacturing, quality, and test. The position may eventually grow in scope to becoming the lead project engineer/manager for generating these materials.
- Candidate will assist the project manager in planning, assuring completion of client goals on time, within budget and ensuring products conform to the highest standards of excellence in terms of accuracy, completeness, and presentation. - Responsibilities include support of business development and project performance efforts that address customer needs. Candidate will be required to effectively interact with clients for business development including needs definition, proposal presentations, and project definition and reviews. - Candidate is also required to effectively interact with technical staff for proposal development and project performance.
Level of Knowledge and Education:
B.S. or M.S. Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. The ideal candidate will possess 5 to 10 years of experience in mechanical development of aerospace systems with exposure to electromechanical systems. Candidate must have background and experience with structural analysis, dynamics/ kinematics, advanced high-strength materials, CAD and machine design. Ability to develop, plan and execute projects is required. Candidates for consideration must be a U.S. citizen, will be subject to a government background security investigation, and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
